HE The Ambassador Yaqoub Yousef Alateeqi attended the Ceremony of distribution of houses for internally displaced people (IDP) in Mannar situated 320 Km away from the capitol of Colombo.

KUWAIT, March 28 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Wednesday, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and his accompanying delegation.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will make a four-day state visit to Japan from March 20 to meet Japanese Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and other leaders. It will be his first visit to the country since assuming the post.

HE The Ambassador Yaquob Yousef Alateeqi hosted Kuwait National Day Reception in the evening of 22/2/2012 at Kuwait House on the occasion of the 51st Independence of the State of Kuwait , 21 years Anniversary of the liberate of Kuwait from Sadam’s Invasion and 6th Anniversary of HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah's accession as Amir of State of Kuwait.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued an Amiri Decree announcing the new cabinet under the Premiership of HH Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka started relationships with the State of Kuwait since the arrival of Arab traders to Sri Lanka, and began diplomatic relations between the two countries on 19/2/1971. The Embassy of the State of Kuwait was opened in Sri Lanka on 12.03.1995. and the Embassy of the Republic of Sri Lanka opened in the State of Kuwait in 1981.

HE The Ambassador Yaqoub Yousef Alateeqi participated in the Sixty Fourth Independence celebrations on 4/2/2012 in the City of Anuradhapura – 233 KM away from the Capitol of Colombo.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah announced Monday that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki will visit Kuwait soon upon an invitation from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The Embassy of The State of Kuwait in Colombo is preparing to celebrate 51 years of the Anniversary of Independence of the State of Kuwait and 21 years Anniversary of the liberation of Kuwait from Sadam's Invasion as well as the 6th Anniversary of HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah's accession as Amir of State of Kuwait.

H.E. The Ambassador Yaqoub Yousuf Alateeqi participated in the New Year Reception as per the invitation extended by The President of Sri Lanka HE Mahinda Rajapksa which was held at Temple Trees in Colombo. HE The President, Hosted this event in honour of the Diplomatic Core in Sri Lanka.
