The South Eastern University of Sri Lanka celebrated “The Kuwait Day” to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of the State of Kuwait , 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic Relations between State of Kuwait and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, 20 Years Anniversary to the Liberation of Kuwait from Sadam’s Invasion and 5th Anniversary of HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah’s accession as Amir of State of Kuwait.
Mr.Mohamed Mansoor former Trade Minister and former Sri Lanka Ambassador toKuwait graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. This event was organized with the guidance of H E Ambassador of State of Kuwait to Sri Lanka Yaqoub Yousef Al Ateeqi.
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development granted the loan of US$7 Million (KD 2 Million) for the implementation of the First-Phase project of this University. The Kuwait fund further agreed to provide a loan US$ 10.5 Million ( KD 3 Million ) for the expansion of the University.
