Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has granted a loan of USD 51 million for the development of the new Passenger Terminal at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Maldives. The loan agreement was signed in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance in Male Tuesday 9/8/2016 with the presence of HE the Ambassador Khalaf Bu Dhhair. Signed on behalf of the Kuwait Fund was by Deputy Director General of Kuwait Fund ,Hisham Al Waqayan and On behalf of Maldivian Government Minister of Finance Ahmed Munawwar. Also present in the signing ceremony was Minister of Economic Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Saeed Regional Director for Eastern ,Southern Asia and the Pacific for Arab Fund Mr. Waleed Al Bahr , The Third Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Bader Al Foraih and many other officials from the Maldivian Government.

HE Khalaf Bu Dhhair, The Ambassador attended the Independence Day celebration of Republic of Maldives on 26/7/2016 and was accompanied by Third Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Bader Al Foraih. The President of Maldives HE Abdullah Yameen , Senior Government Officials, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and a number of prominent personnel participated in this ceremony. The Ambassador met in the sidelines of the ceremony a number of senior officers of the Republic of Maldives. During this meeting the Ambassador expressed his congratulation to the people of Maldives on behalf of the Government and the people of Kuwait

شارك سعادة السفير / خلف بوظهير في إحتفالات عيد الإستقلال الواحد والخمسون لجمهورية المالديف بمرافقة السكرتير الثالث بالسفارة السيد/ بدر عثمان الفريح ، هذا وقد حضر الحفل الرئيس المالديفي عبد الله يمين وكبار المسئولين في الحكومة المالديفية ، ورؤساء البعثات الدبلوماسية المعتمدين لديها وعدد من الشخصيات البارزة. وإلتقى سعادة السفير على هامش الإحتفال بعدد من المسئولين المالديفيين حيث قدم سعادته التهاني إلى الحكومة والشعب المالديفي بإسم حكومة وشعب الكويت

HE Khalaf Bu Dhhair, The Ambassador participated in the signing ceremony of the Trade Economic Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the State of Kuwait and the Government of the Republic of Maldives which took place in Maldives on 18/5/2016. The Commerce and Industry Minister Dr. Yusuf Al Ali signed on behalf of Kuwait while the Economic Development Minister Mr. Mohamed Saeed signed the Agreement on behalf of Maldives. Present at the ceremony was the Counselor of the Embassy, Mr. Hamoud Aljabri and other top officials from both countries

. شارك سعادة السفير / خلف بو ظهير في مراسم توقيع إتفاقية التعاون التجاري بين حكومة دولة الكويت وحكومة جمهورية المالديف والتي وقعت بجمهورية المالديف بتاريخ 18/5/2016. علما بأنه وقع على هذه الإتفاقية معالي وزير التجارة والصناعة د.يوسف العلي ومن الجانب المالديفي وقع عليها معالي وزير التنمية الإقتصادية السيد/ محمد سعيد. وحضر مراسم التوقيع المستشار بالسفارة السيد/ حمود الجبري وعدد من كبار المسئولين من كلا الجانبين.

HE Khalaf Bu Dhhair The Ambassador held a friendly discussion with the Member of Parliament Mr. Cader Masthan . at the Embassy premises on 15/05/2016. During this meeting , both parties discussed various issues especially the situation of Muslims in Sri Lanka.

H. E. Khalaf Bu Dhhair has assured President Yameen of the Kuwait Government’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives in all areas. The Kuwaiti Ambassador made this remark at a meeting held on 28/4/2016 at the President’s Office, following the Presentation of Credentials to H.E. President of the Republic of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The Kuwaiti Ambassador also assured his commitment to strengthening the diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Kuwait, during his tenure. At the meeting, President Yameen congratulated the new Kuwaiti Ambassador on the assumption of his term and welcomed him to the Maldives. He noted that the Maldives and Kuwait has shared longstanding brotherly relations, and expressed his hopes to maintain the strong diplomatic bonds. Also participated in this meeting was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Hon. Dunya Maumoon and the Third Secretary of the Embassy Mr. Bader Alforaih

. سعادة السفير يقدم أوراق إعتماده سفيرا محالاً لدولة الكويت لدى جمهورية المالديف

قدم سعادة السفير / خلف بوظهير أوراق إعتماده لفخامة الرئيس المالديفي عبدالله يمين سفيرا محالا لدولة الكويت لدى جمهورية المالديف في يوم الخميس الموافق 28/4/2016. وأكد سعادة السفير/ خلف بوظهير خلال مراسم تقديم أوراق الإعتماد على عمق العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين معربًا عن تطلعه لتعزيز أواصر الصداقة وتحقيق المزيد من التعاون في كافة المجالات. كما أشاد الرئيس المالديفي بالدعم الذي قدمته دولة الكويت لجمهورية المالديف في مختلف المجالات ، وتمنى الرئيس المالديفي للسفير الجديد النجاح في مهمته. وحضر مراسم تقديم أوراق الإعتماد وزيرة خارجية جمهورية المالديف السيدة/ دنيا مأمون والسكرتير الثالث بالسفارة السيد/ بدر الفريح.

HE Khalaf Bu Dhhair The Ambassador visited underdeveloped areas in the Polonnaruwa District on Monday (14th March 2016) with A group of foreign representatives, including 33 Ambassadors and High Commissioners. The visit was made with the aim of providing aid towards developing these areas. It had been organized by the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Hon. Faizer Mustapha

قام سعادة السفير / خلف بو ظهير بزيارة المناطق المتخلفة في منطقة بولوناروا بتاريخ 14/3/2016 مع عدد من رؤساء البعثات الدبلوماسية المعتمدة في كولومبو كما إجتمع سعادة السفير مع أهالي هذه المنطقة للإطلاع على أحوالهم. وتم تنظيم هذه الزيارة من قبل وزير المجالس الإقليمية والحكم المحلي السيد/ فيزر مصطفى بتوجيه من الرئيس السريلانكي مايتربالا سرسينا .

HE Khalaf Bu Dhhair The Ambassador participated in the distribution of scholarship ceremony on 2/4/2016 organized by Sri lanka Islamic Centre Colombo with the assistance of Islamic Development Bank. HE The Ambassador praised the efforts of the Sri lanka Islamic Centre Colombo in rendering assistance to the Sri Lankan People . Also HE explained in his speech about the role of Kuwait in providing assistance to Sri Lankan people in various fields such as education and culture.

شارك سعادة السفير / خلف بوظهير في حفل توزيع منح دراسية على الطلاب المتفوقين بتاريخ 2/4/2016 نظمه المركز الإسلامي في كولومبو بالتعاون مع بنك التنمية الإسلامية. وألقى سعادة السفير كلمة أشاد فيها بجهود المركز الإسلامي في تقديم المساعدات للطلاب المتفوقين ، كما أوضح سعادته في كلمته عن الدور الذي تلعبه دولة الكويت في تقديم المساعدات للمسلمين في أنحاء العالم وخاصة للمسلمين في سريلانكا في المجالين العلمي والثقافي.

Present at the Ceremony were Mr. M.H.M.Haleem , Minister of Postal Service and Muslim Religious Affairs – Republic of Sri Lanka , Dr. Mansour Al Jabarah Senior Specialist of Islamic Studies .Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs- State of Kuwait, Dr.Husam Fahd Alomairah Executive Director ,Science and Technology, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research.

وقد حضر حفل الإفتتاح معالي وزير البريد والشئون الإسلامية في جمهورية سريلانكا السيد/ محمد هاشم عبد الحليم ، والدكتور/ منصور جبارة كبير إختصاصي دراسات إسلامية – وزارة الأوقاف والشئون الإسلامية – دولة الكويت ، والدكتور/ حسام فهد العميرة – المدير التنفيذي قطاع العلوم والتكنولوجيا معهد الكويت للأبحاث العلمية .

Kuwait lends Sri Lanka KD 10 million KUWAIT, March 24 (KUNA) — Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has signed a loan agreement with Sri Lanka on Thursday at a value of KD 10 million (about USD 34 million) to contribute to financing construction of a complex for the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences, Eastern University. The project aims at enhancing the socio-economic living standards of the people of Sri Lanka, through construction of the new Faculty of Health Care Sciences in Batticaloa City, and provision of quality health care services to the community, KFAED said in statement. The venture includes construction and equipment of the main building, various service structures, internal feeder roads, furniture, research, medical and technical equipment and internet services. It also includes consultancy services for detailed designs, tender documents and supervision of construction. The Project is expected to be completed by end of 2019. The loan agreement was signed on behalf of the Republic of Sri Lanka by Secretary Ministry of Finance R H S, Samaratunga, and on behalf of the Fund by Deputy Director-General of the KFAED Hesham Al-Waqayan, in attendance of Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Sri Lanka Khalaf Bu Dhhair, and Regional Manager for East South Asian and Pacific Countries of Kuwait Fund Waleed Al-Bahar. It is the 14th loan extended by the fund to Sri Lanka, considering that KAFED had already extended 13 loans to it, totaling about KD 62.66 million (USD 213 million). The fund has also extended to Sri Lanka technical assistance, worth KD 455,000 (USD 1.52 million) to finance technical and economic feasibility studies for projects in agricultural and energy sectors.

— وقع الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية الاقتصادية العربية اتفاقية قرض بقيمة عشرة ملايين دينار كويتي (نحو 34 مليون دولار أمريكي) لجمهورية سريلانكا للمساهمة في تمويل مشروع كلية علوم الرعاية الصحية في جامعة شرق سريلانكا . وقال الصندوق في بيان صحافي اليوم الخميس إن المشروع يهدف إلى تحسين المستوى الاجتماعي والاقتصادي لسكان شرق سريلانكا ما يؤدي إلى دعم التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية هناك عن طريق توفير الفرصة الكافية للراغبين في الالتحاق في كلية علوم الرعاية الصحية ببناء مجمع ومبان والمرافق اللازمة لتلك الكلية. وأضاف أن المشروع يستهدف بناء وتجهيز عدة مبان لكلية علوم الرعاية الصحية وما تحتاجه من مرافق خدمية وطرق داخلية وتوريد وتركيب الأثاث والتجهيزات التعليمية الفنية وأجهزة تكنولوجية وخدمات الإنترنت. وذكر أن المشروع يتضمن توفير الخدمات الاستشارية لإعداد التصاميم التفصيلية ووثائق المناقصات والإشراف على تنفيذ المشروع متوقعا الانتهاء من تنفيذه نهاية عام 2019. ووقع الاتفاقية نيابة عن حكومة جمهورية سريلانكا وكيل وزارة المالية الدكتور سمارا تونغا في حين وقعها نيابة عن الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية نائب المدير العام هشام إبراهيم الوقيان وبحضور كل من سفير دولة الكويت لدى جمهورية سريلانكا خلف بوظهير والمدير الإقليمي لدول شرق وجنوب آسيا والمحيط الهادي في الصندوق وليد شملان البحر. ويعتبر هذا القروض ال14 المقدم من الصندوق لجمهورية سريلانكا حيث سبق أن قدم الصندوق 13 قرضا لتمويل مشروعات في مختلف القطاعات بلغت قيمتها الإجمالية نحو 66ر62 مليون دينار كويتي (نحو 213 مليون دولار أمريكي). كما قدم الصندوق لجمهورية سريلانكا معونتين فنيتين بلغت قيمتهما الإجمالية 455 ألف دينار (نحو 52ر1 مليون دولار أمريكي) لتمويل إعداد دراسات الجدوى الفنية والاقتصادية لمشروعين في قطاعي الزراعة والطاقة.
