H.E. The Ambassador Yaqoub Yousef Alateeqi attended the independence day celebration of Republic of Maldives and was accompanied by The Diplomat of the Embassy Mr. Saad Abdullah Al Ansari.
The Republic of Madives celebrated its forty sixth independence ceremonies on 26/7/2012 at Capitol Male in the presence of President of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Waheed. Also attended the ceremony senior officials of Maldivian Government and members of foreign diplomatic corps.
The ambassador met in the sidelines of the ceremony a number of officials and ambassadors among them President of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Waheed. During this meeting The ambassador expressed his congratulation to the people of Maldives on behalf of the people of Kuwait. The both parties discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and also stressed the need to strengthen the relations in various fields between the two countries.
The Maldives gained independence from the British colonial rule on 26/07/1965. It remained under British colonialism since 1887.
