Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for construction of 50 Houses sponsored by ZAKAT HOUSE of State of Kuwait was held at Velimel village, Chilawaturai, Mannar District on Sunday 30 October 2012.
The Foundation Stone was laid by His Excellency Yaqoub Yousef Al Ateeqi
Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Sri Lanka. The ceremony was graced Mr. W.M.Ehiyan Chairman, Musali Pradeshiya Saba, Mr.S.Kethiswarn Divisional Secretary of Musali Divisional Secretariat, Moulavi M.Abdur Rahman, Director, Social Service Dept of Sri Lanka Jama’ath-e-Islami and other dignitaries in the area.
These houses are being built for the benefit of IDPs who start resettling in Mannar district recently.
His Excellency Yaqoub Yousef Al Ateeqi in his address to the audience mentioned that the government and people of Kuwait always stood for the well being of Sri Lankan people by way extending numerous welfare projects. He also mention that this is his second visit to the area as three months back he handed over 42 houses at Nochikulam in Nanattan division in Mannar District built with the assistance of Kuwait Joint Relief Committee.
