A group of female high school students from Kuwait, taking part in the “be distinguished” programme, appreciated Kuwait’s contribution for development in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to KUNA on Sunday, one day after arriving in Sri Lanka, Fatma Malallah said she was looking forward to know more about the activities of Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in Sri Lanka.
“I didn’t imagine how beautiful this country is and how scenic the Sri Lankan cities are,” she said, thanking KFAED for organising the trip in collaboration with the Education Ministry.
Sundus Al-Jarki, another female student, said: “KFAED’s recreational and cultural initiative provided us with an opportunity to improve our knowledge about the civilisation, development and tourist attractions in Sri Lanka.”
Led by Amira Al-Kandari, the delegation includes Sarah Al-Farsi and Sharifa Al-Sabah from KFAED, Dina Al-Ateeqi and Lulwa Al-Shuwaiti from the Education Ministry and students Hajar Muhanna, Anwaar Al-Otaibi, Noura Al-Mutairi, Noura Bin Eid, Suad Al-Asfour, Fatma Malallah, Rawan Bunajma, Reem Al-Enezi, Aljawhara Al-Adwani, Sundus Al-Jarki and Abla Al-Haddad.
The visitors started their trip in Sri Lanka with a visit to the Old Parliament Building and then proceeded to the Gangaramaya Temple, the Independence Square and the Colombo Secretariat.
They are scheduled to visit the development project of Mahaweli River being implemented by KFAED since 2006 which aim to promote agricultural production and create more jobs for Sri Lankans. They will be in Sri Lanka until February 22.
زيارة وفد من الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية الى العاصمة السريلانكية
وصل وفد من الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية الى العاصمة السريلانكية كولومبو بتاريخ 16/2/2013 يرافقه عدد من الطالبات المتفوقات في المرحلة الثانوية من مختلف محافظات الكويت، وذلك في إطار برنامج ثقافي ينظمه الصندوق للتعرف على أهم إسهامات الكويت التنموية في هذا البلد الآسيوي.
وتضم رحلة برنامج «كن من المتفوقين» الذي يستمر حتى 22 الجاري زيارة لمشروع «تنمية كالوجانجا» شرقي سريلانكا ومشروع إعادة تأهيل مؤسسات تعليمية وإدارية متضررة من كارثة تسونامي بالاضافة الى رحلات لأهم معالم سريلانكا التاريخية.
وحول اختيار وجهة رحلة الطالبات أوضحت رئيسة وفد الصندوق الكويتي للتنمية أميرة الكندري لـ «كونا» ان ثراء سريلانكا الحضاري وتنوعها الجيوغرافي يجعلها وجهة مثالية لأهداف الصندوق الذي نفذ فيها 12 مشروعا، مشيرة الى انها المرة الاولى التي ينظم الصندوق رحلة الى الأراضي السريلانكية ضمن برنامج «كن من المتفوقين» الذي يقام للسنة الرابعة على التوالي.
وتترأس الكندري وفدا رسميا يضم من الصندوق سارة الفارسي وشريفة الصباح ومن وزارة التربية دينا العتيقي ولولوة الشويطي، بالاضافة الى الطالبات هاجر مهنا وأنوار العتيبي ونورة المطيري ونورا بن عيد وسعاد العصفور وفاطمة مال الله وروان بوناجمة وريم العنزي والجوهرة العدواني وسندس الجاركي وعبلة الحداد.
