During this meeting both parties discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and the ways of supporting and promoting Kuwait- Maldives relationship in all fields, especially in religious affairs.

The Foreign Minister of Republic of Maldives. Dr, Abdul Samad Abdullah passed away while being treated at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on 25/08/2013.
Maldivian President Mohamed Waheed declared that the national flag will be flown at half-mast for three days as a mark of respect.

The Jamathe Islami of Sri Lanka organized the Ceremony . The project includes 20 houses financed by Zakat House of Kuwait.
Mr.A L M Ibrahim Former President of Jamathe Islami ,Mr. K A Baiz Chairman Urban Council Puttalam Mr.M R M Malik Divisional Secretery Puttalam , and several other top officials from the Government of Sri lanka also participated the ceremony.

The Maldives gained independence from the British colonial rule on 26/07/1965. It remained under British colonialism since 1887.
