HE The Ambassador Yaqoub Yousef Alateeqi made a field visit to the number of development projects in Hambantota South Sri Lanka during the period 5-6/10/2011 .It includes several government projects such as Hambantota Port,Hambantota International Air port and International Cricket Stadium.
The Ministry of External Affairs in Sri Lanka has organized this field trip, participated groups of head of diplomats and attachés’ of diplomatic missions in Colombo, Minister of External Affairs Prof. G .L.Peiris , Member of Parliament Mr.Namal Rajapaksa accompanied the diplomats on their visit to Hambantota. This area is considered as a birth place of H E The President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa . Hambantota was most affected by the Tsunami in 2004.
During the visit H E The Ambassador met with Minister of External Affairs G.L.Peiris .The Ambassador expressed his satisfaction during this meeting with regard to the rapid development that was taking place in Hambantota.
